Mylor Methodist Church

Mission Statement:

We are just ordinary people worshipping God, sharing our faith and Christian beliefs among our Community.

Some Information about us:

Mylor Chapel lies in the heart of the village of Mylor Bridge, right next door to the local school. It was built in 1792 and has had several improvements and extensions along the way. The main building is large, seating roughly 200 people. We have an upstairs Gallery, reached by stairs, with a beautiful piped organ. Downstairs we have a large kitchen area.,disabled toilet and Vestry. We have a large Sunday School Room at the rear of the building which is rented by the village Pre-School daily. We also have a small connecting  room ( for hire) which is currently used by our Sunday School ,a weekly Sewing Group and Singing Group fortnightly. We have an adjoining tarmaced yard for parking.

We meet on Sundays, usually at 10.30 but recently during the Summer we met monthly at 6pm. During the Winter we hope to change the time to 4pm.

Our Sunday worship is usually quite traditional, led by a Minister or Local Preacher. We begin with coffee and informal chats beforehand.

Occasionally we hold a Family Service,  often led by our Sunday school Leader, assisted by our Young People and the Congregation.  We are extremely fortunate at Mylor in having Young People at our Chapel, their ages range from 3-17 years. They join us at the beginning of the Service then leave for their studies in the small Sunday School Room at the rear.

Our monthly evening Services are more informal and held in the Sunday School Room, these are in the form of Cafe Style worship.

We sometimes work in partnership with our Anglican friends from St.Mylor Church e.g. Joint Services on Palm Sunday, Pentecost, Monthly Teas at our gate (in Term Time). Several of our members have helped with Messy Church and Open the Book assemblies at the village school.

We often host Community Events e.g  Walk around Mylor Creek and Cream Tea at a local farm,Open Day with teas and Yard Sales. We recently held an Open Air Service and have invited local singing groups to join our worship. We regularly send News Updates to our local monthly Parish Magazine.
