Carnkie Methodist Church

Our mission statement

We are ordinary people who worship an extraordinary God. Our purpose is to communicate the good news of God’s transforming love through worship, learning, caring and sharing.

Some information about us

We meet for worship on Sundays at Carnkie Village Hall. We prepare the rented hall for weekly worship by setting it up in ways which are honouring to God and meaningful to existing and potential new worshippers.

We are welcoming and inclusive and regularly invite our neighbours to worship with us. We explore new ways of making worship and church activities attractive, and occasionally hold Messy Church or similar creative activity-based acts of worship. We value traditional worship and also welcome opportunities to learn more contemporary worship songs. We engage with different styles of worship and often use the technology available to us including a large screen for projection. Worship is led by one of the circuit ministers, a local preacher or a worship leader, as set out in our Circuit plan. Once each quarter we meet for worship with a number of the other churches in our circuit for a joint celebration service.

We support one another through good pastoral care and we participate in the mission of the church by sharing responsibilities and encouraging each other to use and discover the gifts that God has given each of us.

We encourage each other on our faith journeys through discussion and prayer and by meeting for weekly Bible study at intervals throughout the year.

We reach out to the village community in acts of faith as well as supporting the work and mission of the Falmouth and Gwennap Methodist Circuit to which we belong. We engage with global issues including climate change and have gained our Eco Church Silver award.

Our dream is for our church to be a place where worship of our extraordinary God is central to all activities and where ordinary people of all ages enjoy being with God and with each other.

Please contact the Minister or Contact Steward regarding weddings, funerals and baptisms.

Regular activities

  • Sunday Service 10.30am
  • The ‘Coffee Corner’. Every Sunday following worship we spend time together over a cuppa - discussion, chat, planning, topical issues, Eco Church and time to get to know each other better, and to grow together as a church.
  • Bible Study. Two or three times a year we host a 4-6 week series of studies led by our minister. We are also invited to join with other churches in the circuit when they hold their studies.
