I am delighted to have joined the team in Falmouth and Gwennap. I had a career in the world of education, before retiring early to live on the beautiful island of Madeira with my wife Ruth. Whilst there, I felt a call to the ministry, and offered myself as a (very old) candidate. I was accepted and trained at Wesley House in Cambridge for 2 years. As a probationer, I was stationed in Doncaster.

Whilst there, Ruth suffered a brain haemorrhage and stroke, and was left disabled, so after my ordination I worked part time so that I could be her carer. After selling our home in Madeira, we looked for somewhere where would like to retire to (one day!). A lovely apartment in Falmouth fitted the bill…..and then with it came a call to become the minister at Falmouth and Mawnan Smith Methodist Churches, still part time.

My main focuses in ministry are preaching and pastoral care, though I bring a great deal of experience of management and leadership to the role too. I also have a passionate interest in social justice, both in this country and across the world. Finally, I am very keen on Taizé worship - I went there for a week’s retreat for 7 consecutive years before Ruth was ill.

I have two sons, and four grandchildren, who live in Sussex and Gibraltar. My parents still live in the family home where we were brought up in Oxfordshire.

Outside (and sometimes inside) the church, my main interests are sailing, music, steam railways and enjoying Cornwall. I hope to be able to follow all these to some extent over the next few years.
