Carnkie Methodist Church Mission Statement with Action Plan for one year from 1st April 2018 – 31st March2019

Who are we?
• Ordinary people – extraordinary God

Our purpose
• To share the good news of God’s transforming love through worship, learning, caring and serving

Our goals
• To prepare the rented hall for weekly worship by setting it up in ways which are honouring to God and meaningful to existing and potential new members. To make the best use of the resources available including sound system and projection facility and to be flexible in how we set up the hall for worship as we seek to encourage new people to join us.
• To invite our neighbours to a variety of ‘special’ services throughout the year; to include Harvest Celebration, Remembrance Sunday, Christmas Carol Service, Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, Easter Celebration and Mothering Sunday.
• To reflect God’s love for all people by working with and within the community organising, leading and sharing in events at regular intervals throughout the year; to include Lantern Procession, Act of Remembrance, ‘Have a Go’ Craft events, Summer Fete; always planning to include children.
• To be welcoming and inclusive at all times. To use the ‘First Impressions Count’ material as a resource between Jan - March 2019.
• Commence weekday meetings for Bible study, prayer and discussion, (Circuit support required).
• Our dream is for our church to be a place where the worship of our extraordinary God is central to all activities and where ordinary people of all ages enjoy being with God and with each other. We will explore new ways of making worship and church activities attractive to children, young people and families. This might include introducing Messy Church or similar creative activity-based worship, (Circuit support required). We will seek to introduce a more diverse range of music and worship songs and will consider inviting outside groups or individuals to assist us.
